The Land of Art private guided tour has been designed specifically for art lovers. The itinerary is full of art, from the ancient days to modern times. Experience art that is conventional to some more interesting and experimental works.

You can customise this itinerary to suit your wishes.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Tokyo
Upon arrival at Narita/Haneda Airport, clear customs and immigration. Your meeting assistant will escort you to your private taxi with chauffeur to take you direct to your accommodation in Tokyo.

Accommodation: Hotel in Tokyo – 3 nights

Day 2: Tokyo (B)
After breakfast your Japan journey begins with a full day of sightseeing in Tokyo by public transport (9am – 5pm). The tour will visit 21_21 Design Sight, Sensouji Temple – Tokyo’s most famous Buddhist Temple – and Nakamise Shopping Street for those little souvenirs. Then visit the National Museum of Western Art, designed by Le Corbusier. You’ll then have the rest of the evening free to explore the nightlife of Tokyo.

Day 3: Tokyo – Nikko – Tokyo (B)
Enjoy a private guided sightseeing tour of Nikko by public transport (8am – 7:30pm). Visit the intricately decorated Nikko Toshogu Shrine, Rinnoji Temple and Futarasan Shrine. Find the famous three animal carvings (sleeping cat, three monkeys and imagined elephant)!

Day 4: Tokyo – Okayama – Naoshima (B)
Transfer to Tokyo or Shinagawa Station by public transport with your guide. Travel to Okayama by bullet train and express train with no guide on board. Meet your local private guide and transfer to Naoshima by train and ferry.
*Note, that heavy luggage is transferred from your accommodation in Tokyo to Takamatsu. Please pack your clothes and toiletries for a two night stay into an overnight bag or backpack.

Accommodation: Hotel or Guest House in/near Naoshima – 2 nights

Day 5: Naoshima (B)
Enjoy a day dedicated to the arts. Your guide will take you to the Art House Project, Chichu Art Museum, Ando Museum and other sites around this ‘art island’. Take time to admire the distinctive works such as the ‘Yellow Pumpkin’, the symbol of Naoshima.

Day 6: Naoshima – Takamatsu (B)
Leave for Takamatsu by public transport. Upon arrival, take a private guided tour by public transport (10am – 4pm) where you’ll visit the Shikoku-mura Art Village and Ritsurin Koen Park.

Day 7: Takamatsu – Osaka (B)
After breakfast, head to Osaka by public transport. Upon arrival, take a tour of the Mint Museum and the Kamigata Ukiyoe Museum with your guide (11am – 5pm).
*Note, that heavy luggage is transferred from your accommodation in Takamatsu to Kyoto. Please pack your clothes and toiletries for a one night stay into an overnight bag or backpack.

Accommodation: Hotel in Osaka – 1 night

Day 8: Osaka – Miho Museum – Kyoto (B)
Take a full day, private guided sightseeing tour of the Miho Museum by public transport (11am – 3pm). Afterwards, head to Kyoto by public transport with your guide.

Accommodation: Hotel in Kyoto – 2 nights

Day 9: Kyoto (B)
Enjoy a private guided sightseeing tour of Kyoto (9am – 5pm) by public transport. You can choose where to go with some options being the Garden of Fine Art Kyoto, Raku Museum, Kyoto International Manga Museum and Ryukoku Buddhism Museum.

Day 10: Kyoto – Odawara – Hakone (B, D)
After breakfast, your guide will escort you to Kyoto Station. You’ll travel to Odawara Station by bullet train with no escort on board. Upon arrival at Odawara, you’ll be met by your private local guide who will take you on a guided tour of Hakone (12pm – 6pm). Here you’ll visit the Hakone Open-Air Museum and the Okada Museum of Art. Afterwards, check in to your ryokan and enjoy a traditional Japanese dinner.
*Note, that heavy luggage is transferred from your accommodation in Kyoto to Tokyo. Please pack your clothes and toiletries for a one night stay into an overnight bag or backpack.

Accommodation: Ryokan in Hakone – 1 night

Day 11: Hakone – Tokyo (B)
Transfer to Odawara station with your guide by public transport. Travel to Shinagawa by bullet train with no guide on board. Meet your new guide at Shinagawa and commence a private tour of Tokyo (11am – 4pm). The tour will visit the Nezu Museum and the Meiji Memorial Picture Gallery.

Accommodation: Hotel in Tokyo – 1 night

Day 12: Tokyo – Narita International Airport (B)
Your escorted tour finishes after breakfast. Your room will be available until 11am. Transfer on your own to Narita International Airport and head off to your next destination.
We can arrange late check out, post-tour accommodation and any other arrangements if you wish to extend your stay in Japan after the tour concludes.
