The Japan Essence 10 day private escorted tour of Japan is ideal for first time visitors wanting to see the major sightseeing spots. You’ll be able to enjoy the experience of staying in a ryokan (a traditional Japanese inn) and savour the kaiseki dinner (full course Japanese cuisine).
You can customise this itinerary to suit your wishes.
Itinerary:
Day 1: Tokyo
Upon arrival at Narita/Haneda Airport, clear customs and immigration. Your meeting assistant will escort you to your private taxi with chauffeur to take you direct to your accommodation in Tokyo. Hotel rooms will be available from 3pm. For early arrivals, you can store your luggage at the hotel and have a look around Tokyo.

Day 2: Tokyo (B)
After breakfast your Japan journey begins with a full day of sightseeing in Tokyo. Your guide will take you to some of the major sights including Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, Meiji Jingu Shrine, Harajuku, the Imperial Palace Plaza, Sensouji Temple – Tokyo’s most famous Buddhist Temple – and Nakamise Shopping Street for those little souvenirs.
Day 3: Tokyo – Nikko – Tokyo (B)
Enjoy a private guided sightseeing tour of Nikko by public transport (8am – 7:30pm). Visit the intricately decorated Nikko Toshogu Shrine, Shinkyo Bridge and the Tamozawa Imperial Villa. Find the famous three animal carvings (sleeping cat, three monkeys and imagined elephant)!
Day 4: Tokyo – Kamakura – Hakone (B, D)
Take a private guided sightseeing tour of Kamakura and Hakone by public transport (8am – 6pm). In Kamakura, visit the Great Buddha at Kotokuin Temple and Hase Kannon Temple before taking a leisurely cruise at Hakone’s Lake Ashi.
*Note, that heavy luggage is transferred from your accommodation in Tokyo to Kyoto. Please pack your clothes and toiletries for a two night stay into an overnight bag or backpack.

Day 5: Hakone– Okayama– Hiroshima (B)
Transfer to Odawara Station by public transport with your guide. Travel to Okayama by bullet train with no escort on board. Upon arrival at Okayama Station, meet up with an English-speaking guide. Take a short sightseeing trip to Okayama Korakuen Garden, one of Japan’s 3 most beautiful gardens. Your guide will then travel with you to Hiroshima by bullet train.

Day 6: Hiroshima – Miyajima – Kyoto (B)
Take a private guided tour of Hiroshima and Miyajima (8am – 4pm). Witness and learn of the tragic results of war and heartbreaking stories at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Museum and the Atomic Bomb Dome. Continue with your guide to Miyajima and take a private guided tour of Itsukushima Shrine. You’ll then travel by bullet train to Kyoto with your guide.

Day 7: Kyoto (B)
Private guided sightseeing tour of Kyoto (9:30am – 5pm) by public transport. Explore Kinkakuji Temple (the Golden Pavillion), Ryoanji Temple, Nijo Castle, then stroll around Nishiki Market and the Gion District.
Day 8: Kyoto (B)
Full day of personal free time in Kyoto.
Day 9: Kyoto – Nara – Osaka (B)
After breakfast, depart for Nara on a private guided excursion (9am – 6pm). See the world’s largest wooden building at Todaiji (which houses the great bronze Buddha). Walk through Nara Park, home to over a thousand friendly deer, and visit Kasuga Taisha Shrine. Head next to Osaka where your guide will take you to the Namba District. Discover your favourite local street food in Dotonbori.

Day 10: Osaka – Kansai International Airport (B)
Your escorted tour finishes after breakfast. Transfer on your own to Kansai International Airport and head off to your next destination.
We can also arrange late check out, post-tour accommodation and any other arrangements if you wish to extend your stay in Japan after the tour concludes.
