The Unveil Tohoku 7 day private escorted tour of Japan provides a comfortable experience while touring Japan’s northern-most region of the main island. Experience a land rich in history and culture and see some of the most amazing natural scenery Japan has to offer.

Itinerary:
Day 1: Tokyo
Upon arrival at Narita/Haneda Airport, clear customs and immigration. Your meeting assistant will escort you to your private taxi with chauffeur to take you direct to your accommodation in Tokyo. Hotel rooms will be available from 3pm. For early arrivals, you can store your luggage at the hotel and have a look around Tokyo.
Accommodation: Hotel in Tokyo – 1 night
Day 2: Tokyo – Sendai – Matsushima (B, D)
After breakfast, travel by bullet train to Sendai and then by local train to Matsushima. Take a private guided tour by private vehicle of Matsushima including Zuigan-ji Temple, Kanran-tei and Godaido.
*Note, that heavy luggage is transferred from your accommodation in Tokyo to Kakunodate. Please pack your clothes and toiletries for a two night stay into an overnight bag or backpack.

Day 3: Matsushima – Hiraizumi – Hanamaki (B, D)
Take a full day private guided tour of Hiraizumi. Visit Takkaku no Iwaya, the temple built in to the rockface, Motsu-ji Temple, Chuson-ji Temple with its stunning Konjiki-do (Golden Hall) and Gikei-do. Next, you’ll head to your accommodation at a ryokan in Hanamaki for dinner.

Day 4: Hanamaki – Tazawako – Kakunodate (B)
Take a full day private guided tour by private Vehicle. Head to Lake Tazawa, then enjoy a stroll along Dakigaeri Gorge. Then proceed to Kakunodate, and enjoy a stroll around this charming samurai town.
Accommodation: Hotel in Kakunodate – 1 night
Day 5: Kakunodate – Sendai – Yamagata (B)
Leave for Sendai by bullet train and visit Zuiho-den Hall. Then head to Yamagata by express train, taking in the scenery of the Zao Mountain Range along the journey.
*Note, that heavy luggage is transferred from your accommodation in Kakunodate to Tokyo. Please pack your clothes and toiletries for a one night stay into an overnight bag or backpack.

Day 6: Yamagata – Tokyo (B)
Enjoy a half day excursion of Yama-dera by private transfer, exploring Rishhaku-ji high in the mountain, then proceed to the Basho Memorial Museum. In the afternoon, leave for Tokyo by bullet train. Your accommodation will be available from 3pm.

Day 7: Tokyo – Narita International Airport (B)
Your escorted tour finishes after breakfast. The hotel room is available until 11am. Transfer on your own to Narita International Airport and head off to your next destination.
We can arrange late check out, post-tour accommodation and any other arrangements if you wish to extend your stay in Japan after the tour concludes.
