The 14 day escorted tour of Japan includes many of the must-see spectacles and is ideal for first time visitors. Travel by coach bus, train and the super impressive shinkansen as you see the most popular sights of Japan. Experience modern megacities, historical towns and the ancient traditions and culture that Japan is famous for.
Itinerary:
Day 1: Tokyo
Your escorted tour of Japan begins upon arrival at Narita/Haneda Airport. Clear customs and immigration before boarding the Airport Limousine Bus to your accommodation in Tokyo.
*We can arrange for early check-in or prior accommodation and any other arrangements before the tour begins.
Accommodation: Tokyo – 3 nights
Day 2: Tokyo (B,L)
After breakfast your Japan journey begins with a full day of sightseeing in Tokyo. Your guide will take you to some of the major sights including the Tokyo Sky Tree with 360 panoramic views of the city, the Tsukiji Outer Fish Market and Sensouji Temple – Tokyo’s most famous Buddhist Temple – and Nakamise Shopping Street for those little souvenirs. Drive by some famous shopping districts such as Ginza and Akihabara. The tour will conclude in the early evening and you will have the rest of the evening free to explore the nightlife of Tokyo.
Day 3: Tokyo (B)
In the morning, visit Shibuya, Harajuku and Meiji Jingu Shrine with your guide. Your afternoon is free to explore Japan at your own pace.
Day 4: Tokyo – Hakone (B, L, D)
Embark on a full day sightseeing tour of the Hakone and Lake Ashi area. Visit the 5th station of Mt Fuji, Japan’s national icon. Enjoy a cruise on lake Ashi, then ropeway up Mt Komagatake, stopping at Owakudani Valley for a spectacular panoramic view of Mt Fuji and the surrounding area. After sightseeing, arrive at your Ryokan (Japanese style accommodation) and enjoy a delicious welcome dinner.

Accommodation: Hakone – 1 night
Day 5: Hakone – Takayama (B)
After a Japanese style breakfast, depart for Takayama. You will have the afternoon and evening free to explore this beautiful little samurai town in the heart of the Japanese Alps. For dinner you might like to try the famous “Hida-gyu” beef, a speciality dish in Takayama.

Day 6: Takayama (B)
Explore some of the famous sights in Takayama including the Hida Folk Village (an open air museum exhibiting over 30 traditional houses from the region) and the Matsuri-no-mori Festival Floats Museum. Venture inside Takayama Jinya (a former government outpost) and wander around Kamisanmachi to view the traditional samurai houses and old wooden buildings consisting of sake breweries, small boutiques and some larger merchant houses which are now museums.
Day 7: Takayama – Gokayama – Kanazawa (B, L)
Travel by bus to Gokayama, a World Heritage listed area and experience Japanese paper making.

Day 8: Kanazawa – Osaka (B)
Your guide takes you on a tour of Kanazawa city in the morning visiting the Higashi Chayagai geisha district, Kenroku-en Garden (one of Japan’s 3 most beautiful gardens) and the Nagamachi samurai district. In the afternoon travel to Osaka by limited express train.
Accommodation: Osaka – 1 night
Day 9: Osaka – Hiroshima (B)
Visit Osaka’s sights, including Osaka Castle and Dotombori, Osaka’s famous canal district. In the afternoon, travel by shinkansen to Hiroshima.
Accommodation: Hiroshima – 2 nights
Day 10: Hiroshima (B)
Visit some of the major sights of Hiroshima including Miyajima Island, the World Heritage listed Itsukushima Shrine and the Hiroshima Atomic Bomb Dome. Your evening is free to dine out – why not try some of the local specialty, okonomiyaki.
Day 11: Hiroshima – Himeji – Kyoto (B)
After breakfast, depart for Kyoto by Shinkansen Bullet Train. Stop by Himeji on the way to see Himeji Castle, a World Heritage listed site, and Koko-en Garden. Continue on to Kyoto and check into your accommodation.

Day 12: Kyoto (B, L)
Enjoy a full day sightseeing tour of Kyoto visiting some of the most famous sites including Kinkakuji (the Golden Pavilion), Nijo Castle and Sanjusangendo. A tea ceremony experience and lunch is also included.

Day 13: Kyoto (B, D)
Today is a free day to explore more of Kyoto at your own pace – or do some last minute shopping. Enjoy a farewell dinner at a local restaurant with your tour escort and group.
Day 14: Kyoto
Your escorted tour of Japan finishes after breakfast. Included in this tour is an airport transfer service to Kansai International Airport or Itami Domestic Airport.
*We can also arrange late check out, post-tour accommodation and any other arrangements if you wish to extend your stay in Japan after the tour concludes.
