Watch a live sumo wrestling tournament, the national sport of Japan. Sumo has a history spanning many centuries and is an important Japanese cultural tradition. It originated as a performance to entertain the Shinto deities in ancient times. Many ancient traditions have been preserved in sumo, and even today the sport includes many ritual elements such as the use of salt purification. See the inherited traditions and feel the power and sprit of the wrestlers!

Visit the Sumo Museum within the Ryogoku Stadium and learn about the history and tradition of Sumo. Then watch the thrilling sumo matches from your comfortable reserved seat. The English-speaking guide will explain everything you want to know about sumo.

18:00 – 18:30 The tour will end at Ryogoku Kokugikan.

*Notes:
1. After a tour of the Kokugikan Sumo Museum, participants will head to the 2nd floor B-class seating area to watch the tournament. Seats may not be designated.
2. Please refrain from bringing food and drinks into the arena. You can purchase food and refreshments from the vendors inside the arena.
3. You will have to wait to be taken to your seat if one of the following events is underway at the time: sumo match, ring entering procession of Makuuchi division wrestlers or Yokozuna, ritual stomping ceremony, or a speech by Sumo Association.
4. Participants who arrive late may not join the tour.
